Verification Guidelines
The blue Verified badge on Werfie serves as a mark of authenticity for accounts of public interest. To qualify for this badge, your account must be Genuine, Notable and active.
Geniuine
To foster and uphold trust among users on the platform, confirming your identity with Werfie is necessary to attain Verification. Depending on the category, you’ll be prompted to select one of the following methods to verify your identity:
- Official website: Share the link to an official website referencing you (or your organization) and your Werfie account. Individuals must ensure the owning organization of the website is Verified on Werfie.
- ID verification: Submit a photo of a valid official government-issued identification document, such as a Driver’s License or Passport. This requirement applies to individuals, not entities like companies, brands, or organizations.
- Official email address: Supply an official email address associated with a domain relevant to the chosen notability category. For individuals, the organization linked to the domain must be Verified on Werfie.
Notable
Your account must be linked with a well-known individual or brand, adhering to the notability criteria outlined below. Besides confirming the account holder’s identity, Werfie will verify various account types based on the criteria mentioned. Across all categories, Werfie may independently verify affiliations through business partnerships or direct outreach. For each category, the following information may be requested to confirm notability:
- News Coverage: Provide news articles that mention you or your organization multiple times, sourced from Verified news organizations. These articles should not be blog or self-published content. In some cases, articles referencing or linking to your Werfie handle may also be required.
- Google Trends: Supply a link to a Google Trends profile displaying relevant search history related to your chosen category.
- Wikipedia: Share a link to a stable Wikipedia article meeting Wikipedia’s notability standards, either about you or your organization.
- Other Industry-specific References: Depending on the category, additional industry-specific references, like an IMDB page for entertainment-related accounts, may be necessary.
- Follower or Mention Count: Accounts within the top .05% for follower or mention count in their geographic location may serve as evidence of notability for certain categories.
Active
Your account must be active with a record of adherence to the Werfie Rules. This means:
Complete: Your account must have a profile name, and a profile image; Active use: Your account must be public at the time of application, and you must have logged into that account in the last six months; Security: Your account must have a confirmed email address or phone number; and Werfie Rules: Your account must not have had a 12-hour or 7-day lockout for violating the Werfie Rules in the past 12 months.
